Our Story From the Founder...
In 2022 I was visiting Lakes Free Church in Lindstrom, Mn for the second time. Senior Pastor Jason Carlson walked up on stage, and pointed to a clear vase sitting on a table. In the vase were three white roses. Pastor Jason proceeded to explain that the three white roses representing three people that had recently given themselves to Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior through the outreach programs of the church. This profoundly touched my heart. I instantly wanted to be a
Christian that introduced someone to Jesus. Seriously, could that be me?
This desire to simply do something meaningful had been tugging at me for quite some time. I often found myself reflecting on a lifelong dream—to make a living in the golf industry. I had always imagined owning a golf shop, or building something around the game I love, but that dream never came to fruition. Around that same time, I was designing a logo for an entirely different project. While experimenting with fonts, I typed the words “GodLoves.” The moment they appeared on my screen, something felt right. On a whim, I logged into GoDaddy and thought, What if? Could GodLoves.com possibly be available? It wasn’t, but as I searched, GoDaddy was promoting a new top-level domain (TLD). While the .com was taken,
GodLoves.golf was available.
In that moment, everything shifted. The instant I removed money, and personal ambition from my long-held
dream of being involved in golf, GodLoves.golf was born. I knew our events needed to be FREE, and we needed to be a 100% volunteer organization. In the beginning I struggled with the power of FREE, but quickly realized a consistent truth.
The money will always be there if you are doing what God loves. These ideas did not come from me.
The lesson here is to take your Christian idea and just run! What are you waiting for?
In 2023 my wife and I rented a driving range for kids, and adults to hit golf balls for FREE. It actually was awful! It was over 100 degrees without a cloud in the sky. Nobody showed up, accept family and friends, but we had Christian music playing in
the background so we made the best of it. It was difficult to try again, but we decided the next one should be just for
young kids. We also decided to get a golf coach to teach kids the correct way to swing a golf club from the get go. We started to believe more and more in what we were doing and GodLovesGolf quickly turned into GodLovesSports. We applied and received non-profit status, and God Loves 501(c)(3) was created.
The age group we concentrate on at our Christian sports clinics are children in third grade. We want to help parents give
their junior athletes a chance to “Try a sport before they buy a sport” all while promoting Jesus. The third grade age group gives us an opportunity to reach children right before they jump into a sport they find they love. Our smaller events promote our larger events. Our smaller events offer FREE coaching, and play for one specific sport. Our larger events typically consist of
FREE coaching, and play for 3 or more different sports.
Step one is to secure the venue. Step two is to partner with a local Bible based church. Each church is welcome to promote their church, mission, and outreach programs at our events. We ask our church partner to supply the worship band,
equipment, setup, and performance for the event. Step three is to partner with local coaches. Step four is to invite our junior athletes to a fun filled, and FREE Christian sports clinic where we invite everyone into a relationship with
Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior.
Our larger events are run like a football game. We have a pregame show with a Christian message, music, and announcements for the event. At the start of the first quarter junior athletes, and parents can wander through the event
choosing which sport, and coaches they would like to work with. At all of our events parents must attend, and chaperone their children at all times. All coaches will have their own drills, coaching systems, coaching techniques etc. The end of the second quarter leads to a halftime show with a Christian message and music. Then, two more quarters of coaching and fun. Finally, finishing with a postgame show of more music, and free play on the turf. Our events are FREE,
but we do ask for non-perishable food donations.
What does the future look like for GodLovesSports? We want to grow school district by school district, county by county, and hopefully state by state. As far as a goal for the Twin Cities we want to pack USBank stadium someday. Imagine, junior athletes and parents on the field. Stands filled with people worshipping together. Christian band playing at the
halftime show. Post game Christian concert. I can tell you this, the event will be FREE!
The birth of "Fill The Vase" happened in 2025 inspired by Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior, and that clear vase from Lakes Free Church. The truth of this life is we were born to honor God Our Only Father in Heaven. There is not one thing we
can do to get into Heaven accept trust in who Jesus is, and what Jesus has done for us. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was crucified, died, and was buried. He rose again on the third day, and is seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. He will return again to judge the living and the dead. Through Him we are Saved. We "Fill the Vase" because
we are so very thankful for the gift of salvation, and want to share that gift with others.
Our goal is to introduce 1,000,000 people to Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior. Is today the day you give yourself to Jesus? Start with a prayer asking Jesus to come into your heart, and then reach-out to a local Bible based church.
With God's Amazing Grace we will need a bigger vase!
